If you have a look at http://www.myspace.com/theycallmemrdrew then you'll find out more...

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-11-08T12:35:59Z</dcterms:modified>

Fantasy Dinner Party guests? Just added Bruce Campbell

You know the kind of thing - one of those standard 'conversation-starter' questions where people say 'if you could invite 6 people (3 male/3 female), alive or dead (I mean bring them back to life for it - lets face it, corpses aren't known for their fascinating conversation), who would you invite'?

Having just read his biography 'If Chins Could Kill...', Bruce Campbell has been well-and-truly added to the T2D dream dinner roster. Down-to-earth, intelligent, funny, a wealth of decent stories from the arse-end of the film industry upwards that span all areas of it and seemingly a genuinely nice bloke who'd help do the washing-up afterwards as well if asked. Needless to say, the bio is excellent.

So that's Bruce Campbell, Bill Hicks, Kirstin Dunst, Drew Barrymore and John Lennon covered. One left. Hmmm.....maybe Jane Austen?

Post your own - goes w/o saying, really.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-08-04T15:32:11Z</dcterms:modified>

TV/Movie News...

Ok, some news and views on upcoming TV & Film stuff doing the rounds on the 'net @ the moment.

New Series - First off, Ain't It Cool have had a look at some of the new shows hitting the US networks sometime soon (and, potentially, coming to a Sky, E4 or FX near you a little later...or ever a Bravo). Out of the ones covered, 'Jericho' sounds very good indeed (A small town in Kansas loses all communication – TV, radio, phones - with everything beyond its city limits. And a huge mushroom cloud appears over Denver), kind've like an urban 'Lost' meets 'The Stand' and there's hope that 'Heroes' (An artist-addict discovers he’s clairvoyant. A cop discovers he can read minds. A cheerleader discovers an ability to heal her injuries. An office worker discovers he can freeze time. A stripper discovers she has a deadly mirror twin. A prisoner discovers he can teleport himself. A male nurse begins to think he can fly. A handsome Indian nerd is investigating. And all these newly superpowered beings seem to be connected to each other.) may not be all that bad either. Let's hope that if they are picked up that they won't be mistreated in the schedules in the way that the likes of 'Supernatural' and 'Carnivale' were.

Returning Stuff - 'The Dead Zone' - fans of the show will be pleased to hear that USA Network have now started showing the latest series. No news yet on an airing date over here, but expect Sci-Fi to get it. A little more worrying is that the 'Dead Like Me' site appears to have dropped into the void and the message board pulled. The next series of the excellent 'Family Guy' starts in the States in September (and will hit 100 episodes during its run) so expect to see FX and BBC2 screen it here. Reality TV-wise, it's been confirmed that Big Brother 8 will be filmed at Elstree and will then seek a new home (suggesting that rumours regarding the show's demise are rather wide of the mark) while BBC1 are bringing the Daddy of the new reality boom back for another go - 'Castaway' should return with a new island community sometime next year.

'Transformers: The Movie' - After months of speculation, it looks like the voice of Optimus Prime has finally been cast. Despite calls for George Clooney, the role has gone to a guy called Peter Cullen. 'Who he?' I hear you ask - quite. An experienced voice-over animation actor, he's best known for his work as Eeyore, the miserable floppy blue donkey thing creation of A.A. Milne. Inspired casting.

In need of a buzz and a woody? *cough* if so, be happy - it appears 'Toy Story 3' is now back on track again, with Hanks and Allen both set to reprise their roles. Also, according to Dark Horizons, Pixar are now on board the project again after their recent acquisition by Disney. Nice!

Spidey 3 - As well as the particularly nice trailer doing the rounds at the mo, Sam Raimi and some of the stars from next years sequel were at a Comic Book convention over the weekend and announced a few juicy details. As suspected, Harry O will step into his insane father's shoes as the GG, giving us 3 super-villains that we know of to pit Spidey against. Also the Eddie Brock character will don the infamous Venom suit as in the comics & cartoon. Best of all is that, contrary to earlier statements, this may NOT be the last Raimi-Spiderman film - maguire himself seemed to hint that there are more stories that could be told. So if Venom works in Spidey 3, perhaps a Carnage or Blaccat film isn't beyond the realms of possibility?

Speaking of superheroes, a few other gems of info arrived courtesy of Total Film. Bryan Singer has announced that he's signed up for a sequel to the less-then-impressive (in T2Ds opinion) 'Superman Returns' (see review here). Due to air in 2009 and despite of some underwhelming box-office takings, Singer intends to take the franchise to a more 'action-filled' level - hurrah! Hulk will fight the charming Abomination in Greenie's second outing whilst the big screen version of Iron Man will see Tony Stark's alter-ego facing The Mandarin (which we're assuming isn't some enormous Orange monster or mutated Jaff).

Missing review? Missing film! T2Ds review of 'Stay Alive' has been postponed, due to the film reel not turning up for he press screening! If advance word is anything to go by, this may have been a blessing in disguise.

Some horror sequel news now, courtesy of Fangoria, who've annouced that work is underway on sequels to 'The Hills Have Eyes' and British zombie/virus flick '28 Days Later'. Both have new directors at the helm though which (especially with the loss of Alexandre Aja to THHE) may cause concern. Having said that, it's impossible not to get excited about work on the sequel to 'Dog Soldiers' whoever's directing it - due out in 2007, 'Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat' continues from where the first film finished and this time pits soldiers against a team of their comrades who've now become werewolves - with knowledge of military tactics!

And Finally...congratulations to 'Evil Dead: The Musical' which has now been moved to New York for an extended run after a successful batch of shows in Canada. Based on the first two films and packed with numbers like 'Do The Necronomicon', 'All The Men In My Life Keep Getting Killed By Candarian Demons' and 'Hail to the King', it stars the guy who played singing demon 'Sweet' in classic Buffy episode 'Once More With Feeling'. I shit you not - see the site here.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-07-24T14:14:31Z</dcterms:modified>

RIP Guess The Intro

You served us well for a time but, as with Celebrity Death List, it seems your time has come - farewell you big ol' competition, you.

Sign here...

Calling all QI fans!

Quite possibly the funniest programme on TV (if you haven't seen it, keep an eye out for old episodes on UKTVG2 at around 11ish every night or on BBc2, 3 and 4), the QI official website is asking for people to sign a petition in order to convince the necessary BBC bods to release the old series' on DVD - astoundingly, considering its popularity, they're reluctant to do so!!

Anyway, click here to go and sign the petition.

Then bask in a warm and fuzzy feeling, secure in the knowledge that you've done a good thing.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-07-18T10:26:46Z</dcterms:modified>

Hard...Rock...HALLELUJAH!!!

After years of Eurovision torture, Saturday was a night to rejoice thanks to the Finnish madmen pictured below.

Y'see, for the past 5-6 years I haven't missed a single, painful second of it. Constructing a game with friends around it, for which the winner receives money/alcohol/presents as a reward sounds good - until you realise that you have to listen to every song to compete. Truly horrific.

And then Finland happened. A country famous for Jari Litmanen, Eidar Gudjohnsen and...being near to Sweden, suddenly romps Eurovision with a group of 80s throwback metallers dressed up as LOTR bit-part characters, performing a gloriously cheesy metal tune which Bruce Dickinson, Lemmy and Meatloaf would have been proud of.

Of course, this means next year we may be exposed to the prospect of Aremenian rock and Turkish mosh-pits but who cares? Finland - we salute you!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-05-22T10:17:39Z</dcterms:modified>

And it's a big T2D Happy Birthday to...

...DJ Rob, regular T2D contributor and nice bloke.

Shocked and outraged at how a show designed to bring joy to the world could commit crimes of such unspeakable torment.

The show in question? The new, Dave Spikey hosted version of 'Bullseye' on Challenge. Cower in dread, my friends, for underneath that jovial bull-like mask are a pair of curly goat horns and glowing red eyes. Oh yes.

Let me explain. After tuning in to the 8:30pm repeat, I turned my attention to the 10pm show with no idea of what was to come. Halfway through came the key moment - the moment where the show gets someone in to try to throw 301 or more with 9 darts to earn money for a chosen charity. Imagine my horror when they introduced Martin Adams, top 10 world dart player for many years to make the attempt. He failed (279? rubbish) BUT that wasn't the issue.....

....the issue was who the people in the 8:30 programme got....

...the individual throwing to earn a donation that could change the live of some poor creature...

...Fizz from Coronation Street.

How the hell does THAT work? Everyone else gets a dart-throwing world standard professional player to earn money for little Timmy to have that limb regrafted onto his body. They get the fat bird from the Rovers Return, who giggled whenever she scored more then 10 and looks far more likely to use a dartboard as a snack plate then to throw darts at it.

What did she score? A measely '140 and something'. Yes, you may snigger. But just think of the children. It's alright to come home saying 'we met that big girl from the soap opera, it was grand - she was crap at darts but we had fun meeting her' - but that's not gonna buy you an organ, is it? Call me ambitionless, but I'd rather meet a fat, semi-famous darts player and give someone that kidney.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the possibility of someone winning a speedboat then I'd have turned over.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-04-20T22:38:56Z</dcterms:modified>

GUESS THE INTRO **WINNER** (Round 27/3 - 2/4)

MUCH more like it, folks!

After a few quiet weeks, there was fierce competition over GTI this week with a few sterling efforts. But the final prize goes to virgin winner warpdhed who got a very respectable 18/20.

Having said that, I'm shocked that so many of you never got no.4 - prepare to kick yourselves:

The Answers

1. Black Box - Ride On Time

2. Motorhead - Ace of Spades

3. Pet Shop Boys - Left To My Own Devices

4. The Cult - Firewoman

5. Art of Noise feat. Max Headroom - Paranoimia

6. Billy Idol - White Wedding

7. Talking Heads - And She Was

8. U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday

9. The Vapors - Turning Japanese

10. Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough

An 80s theme enjoyed by all, it seems. Warpdhed wins the CD - an 80s compilation of his chosen theme.

New round goes up Monday morning folks - hope to see you all there again.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-04-02T18:33:41Z</dcterms:modified>

GUESS THE INTRO - New Round (27/03 - 02/04) **RD CLOSED**

New round of Guess The Intro.

Easy rules - click the link below and listen to the music file (about 45 secs long). Identify the intros to 10 songs and post (as a reply to this post) the artist who recorded each one and the name of the song.

Entry closes at 6PM on Sunday 02/04 - will then display answers and declare the winner later that night, and post a new round up the following Monday.

PRIZE - A CD compiled in the style of the round that week (so this week it'd be an 80s CD).

RULES - Not many. No editing of posts once up or you'll be DQ'd. My decision is final. In event of tie, first person who has posted wins. In the event of someone hitting a perfect 20/20 before the closing day, will end that round straight away and let everyone now.

Download File From Below:

It's bad...

It drives the ladies mad...
No, not my unfeasibly firm calves..

It's.............................GUESS THE INTRO!

How It Works

It's simple, folks. Below is a link to a short mp3 file (no more then 1 min or so), which is comprised of a number of intros to well-known tunes.

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to name as many of them as you can (point for artist, point for song) - when you have, post your answer as a reply to this post before midnight on the closing date (12/03). The person who gets the most correct wins the prize. In the event of a tie, the person who posted FIRST wins. And no post editing - any edited posts will be immediately deemed ineligible.

Of course, the perceptive amongst you will see the catch. Posting early means you win in the event of a tie....but it also means that you may be helping out others with a chance of getting more correct then you. If you leave it then you won't give anything away...but someone may come in with a big score before you that you can't better. The choice is yours.

The Prize

Every week, the winner will get a CD compiled exclusively from T2D's mammoth record collection, made up of tracks from the genre of that week's mp3 challenge. Former winners will tell you that these tend to be fairly special, with some rare stuff, live stuff and hard-to-find tracks included. Be aware though, this means that T2D will need the address of the winner in order to send it to you - anyone with stalker-paranoia may as well not bother!

This Week - A New Twist

Bonus points available! Each track (in honour of the Oscars) is associated with a well-known film. If you can give me the film for each song, as well as the song title and artist, you'll get a point for that too. So 30pts up for grabs!

To access the file, click the link below:

http://www.filelodge.com/files/2687/guesstheintro2.mp3

If you need it mailed to you, get hold of T2D via the email links on the board.

Good luck!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-03-06T10:31:49Z</dcterms:modified>

Kerrazy Dave is driving me mad

Ok, I think I've finally got the clip working.

It seems that it's only been playing up to about 52secs - once I right-clicked on WMP, changed the buffer from 'default' to '5 secs', then clicked on 'options' and turned off the 'drop frames to keep av rate' option, it's now playing the lot.

BUT there's no way she deserves the complete character assassination being performed on her by the other house celebs right now - and even less the unceasing attacks on her by the likes of Galloway, Barrymore and Burns.

There's an enormous amount of contradictory/hypocritical behaviour going on in there right now. Pete Burns preaches about Jodi not giving stick or opinions unless she can take them back, yet them both him and Galloway object when she fires it back at Barrymore after he's been on a judgement trip at her. Burns clearly agrees when Jodi says that he and her don't get on and so it's best they've been avoiding each other...then sides immediately with Barrymore when he says 'that's stupid, what planet are you on?'!!

Barrymore - who I like but is clearly paranoid and way too vulnerable to cope with such exposure at the moment - has done himself few to no favours whatsoever. Having admitted he can't cope with seeing someone like Jodi in the house given his own past lifestyle, his behaviour towards her (consciously or subconsciously) has been dreadful. He may mean well but that's not how it translates itself and has simply served for her to put the walls up and fight back.

And it seems his paranoia has infected the other housemates - scared stiff about her influence on Chantelle (because, of course, Chantelle is obviously stupid being a non-celeb and easily led without her own mind), an attempt is now going on to tear away the last person Marsh still feels she can talk to in there. Their complete over-reaction to Jodi and Chantelle going into the Diary Room at the same time was pathetically funny.

So we come to eviction day on Friday...and I'm torn. Clearly you can tell that I'd like Marsh to stay above the other two - yet part of me can't help wonder whether, for her own good, she should just get the hell out of there and say 'f*ck 'em all'. Pete? Well, at least he is honest and open about his dislike - unfortunately, he unceasingly talks about it until it gets tiresome, in an attempt to convert the others to his thinking. One can't help feeling there's a sad envy underneath - Marsh is physically something he's always strived towards becoming but can never be.

But, I guess, Galloway would be my choice. The man is sly and insiduous in the way he does things - little comments, passing observations and an inability to understand a different generation (and a lack of compunction to try - a frightening factor in an MP) haven't helped. He uses his education on her like a bludgeon, dissecting innocent comments she makes and turning them into ammo against her. I liked and respected the guy pre-CBB - no I find him an unpleasant, judgemental individual with little room for compromise or empathy and a prejudice against other generations and classes.

Nasty stuff.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-01-12T10:05:29Z</dcterms:modified>

Washed-out, Z-List deficients? Yep, Celeb BB is back

It's been a year since Bez beat Kenzie in the last battle for the Celeb BB crown (and haven't they been in the media spotlight ever since (not)) and so, hot on the heels of another batch of non-entities failing to entertain us by catching malaria in the jungle, comes the return of Celebrity Big Brother.

And what a return. Enter a collection of wannabes, has-beens and never-were-or-will-bes, in the biggest collection of entertainment deficients ever gathered in one place since the last Steven Hawking Impressionist's convention.

But still...I feel it my duty to shepherd you through the dangerous waters of the next 23 days in the vain hope that together we may just gleam a smidgeon of entertainment at the plight of said rejects. So let's start with a rundown (if only they could be) of this year's participants:

Michael Barrymore - Hasn't really been 'awight' since his mate tried swimming with the cocaine fairy to terminal effect in his pool a few years ago. All credit though - looked genuinely overcome with the positive reaction of the crowd to him, and his reticence when everyone else was entering was entering makes me think his journey in the house may be the longest. Undoubtedly the favourite to win - and after his unfair hounding by the press, it's be hard to begrudge him victory.

Pete Burns - Former 80s 'Dead or Alive' lead singer now best suited to star in a group named 'Arthur or Martha', Burns must have turned down countless opportunities to appear on 'When Cosmetic Surgery Goes Wrong' before getting the CBB call. Best described as Joanna Lumley's ugly sister (or brother - hard to tell), methinks some 'I don't give a sh*t' laughs may keep him in over halfway. Will him and Rodman exchange outfits?

Tracey Bingham - Former Baywatch babe and a walking advertisement for natural buoyancy aids (though I fear there's nothing natural about them), it's tempting to write off Miss Bingham as a complete bubblehead. And probably best to. Supposedly has a psychology degree from Harvard and no doubt left an awful lot of professors, lecturers and the marking panel with big smiles on their faces prior to graduation if that is the case. Obviously knows Rodman by their reactions to each other when he entered the house - probably in a carnal sense. Halfway at best.

Rula Lenska - If you're below the age of 27 or 28, skip this part: the description 'she's the old one with red hair and the failing voicebox' will cover it. For others, she's....well, she was shacked up with Dennis Waterman ages ago and pops up in lots of 70s and 80s dramas. On the 'close your eyes and stick a pin in the list at random' page alongside Julie Goodyear, Bonnie Langford and Nina Myskov. Anonymity will prove her saviour for the first few evictions.

Maggot - Potentially this year's Bez, one of the numerous members of Welsh comedy hip-hop outfit Goldie Lookin' Chain entered the house bedecked in his trademark tracksuit and promptly seated himself by the beer fridge. Possibly the most entertaining of the nobodies on show and far more intelligent then he looks, expect a lads partnership along with Preston from 'The Ordinary Boys' to see him through to near the end.

Jodi Marsh - Not that she wants to copy her arch-rival Jordan at all...just a coincidence that, after writing her biography after Mrs Andre she's now decided to go on a reality TV show. Seemed to be an early applicant for the 'tart with a heart' role (see Kat Slater), other contestants are glad it isn't summer so her and Miss Bingham can't lie next to each other sunbathing in fear of them being mistaken for a set of speed bumps. Already obsessed with the mirror, possibly the only place she'll find someone to have a conversation with that she'd understand. Will beat Bingham and may just hang on 'til the final 5.

Dennis Rodman - Because EVERY UK Reality TV show needs an American star who we're not that familiar with and doesn't really 'get' the concept for us all to chuckle at. At least Huggy Bear and Flava Flav had a cult credibility over here, rather then being part of a sport that even Channel 4 stopped showing in the early 90s.A multi-millionaire, outrageous, cross-dressing American star basketball player whose luxury item is a packet of extra-large condoms which I'm sure he'll find will fit his head perfectly.
Guaranteed to have every single woman in the house voting for him to be evicted pretty soon.

Preston 'someone or other' - Such a non-entity that even his last name escapes me. Don't get me wrong, I quite like The Ordinary Boys songs but even Davina was hard-pushed to make their achievements (two top 20 albums and a number 1 single in Japan) gain any more then a dull grunt of recognition from the crowd. Will pair up with Maggot and offer a bit of laddish charm to see himself past halfway but eminently forgettable.

Fariah Alam - Place your bets folks, as Miss Alam is one of the joint faves to leave straight away if her crowd response is anything to go by. Famous for getting laid by both Sven and Sven's boss (lets face it, the former doesn't exactly put her in an exclusive club), she didn't help her cause by saying how she happily sold her story and then bitching about how awful the publicity was...and then talking about how she wanted CBB to make her a star or she'd have to go back to her normal life, which would be 'terrible'!! Entered the house with an expression that suggested she'd just licked her own anus and if she lasts longer then a week then I'll lick mine.

George Galloway - The surprise appearance of the show, the infamous Respect MP with his anti-war views is equally loved and hated....and an ambiguous reaction from the crowd suggests he may be alongside Miss Alam come the first vote. Am intrigued to see how he justifies his appearance on the show whilst supposedly representing his constituents in parliament. If he can survive the housemates vote, he may just hang around for a while.

Oh, plus one more. There's a non-celeb in there called Chantelle, whose task is to make the others believe she is a celeb and part of a girl group called kandi Floss. Given the IQ of her fellow housemates, this should be a simple affair. Also, given her IQ, it's easy to believe that she could end up as a checkout girl in a year or two's time which is ideal for her cover story.

So there you have it. 11 people, all of whom will probably take a while to figure out how the can opener works. Despite the rumours of Jimmy & Lisa Tarbuck, Derek Acorah and Johnny Vegas, this is it. Welcome back CBB.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-01-05T23:27:27Z</dcterms:modified>

Could the radio show live again?

Am picking up more and more feedback from people who tuned into the ill-fated charity broadcast - all of it saying how they loved it and when will there be another one...

Going to have to start thinking about this seriously. I have to admit, I felt absolutely 100% comfortable whilst doing it and think I was suited to it - and would be interested in doing something on a regular basis. As I know many of the team would be.

Did discuss an idea with Ryan about setting us up as a mercenary radio outfit, who could be hired for future charity appeals (!) - but Cher's idea re: setting up some kind of regular show associated with not just SIAD but other OCD charities (they'd provide server space and money for music rights, we'd do content) is am good one. May be time, now we've all recovered a little, to start pursuing it further...

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-12-06T23:18:02Z</dcterms:modified>

Kate Moss

____________________________________________________________________________________

So....the gorgeous Kate Moss has been castigated by the media for being caught allegedly taking cocaine - castigated by everyone, that is, but her friends who are asking the press to leave her alone as she hasn't done anything wrong.

I disagree.

Am normally fairly liberal about such things. If you want to go self-destruct then that's up to you - your private life is your own. BUT, for her, the normal defence of celebs saying they are entitled to a private life does not apply.

She's a glamour/fashion model, a job whose very target audience are young girls from their early teens upwards. The industry she works in depends on such customers - and so her very career does as well. When part of your job is presenting yourself to such a group as the pinnacle of beauty and physical aspiration then part of your very job definition is as a role model. People will follow your lifestyle to become like you. Is it such a big jump for a teenage girl, insecure about her appearance, seeing that Kate Moss takes drugs and thinking 'maybe that helps her appearance and is a way to lose weight?'. I fear not.

Many saw her relationship with the talentless deficient that is Pete Doherty as him attaching himself to her like the fame-sucking leech that he is - perhaps that isn't the case. If the rumours being spread in the press are true - and, as alleged, KM has been a regular on the Class-A scene for quite a while - perhaps it's the other way round. But it isn't fame she's leeching from him - that can't be weighed in ounces.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-09-21T10:10:36Z</dcterms:modified>

A few things that made me laugh...

Firstly, a new saying:

"For fat people, there are no see-saws - only potential catapults".

Secondly, a joke Angie shared with me:

'A man walks into a bar, orders a pint for himself and a thimble full of lager. The landlord looks strangely at him, 'til the man reaches down to the floor and comes back up holding a tiny bloke and a piano. He puts both on the bar, upon which the tiny fella has a sip from the thimble and proceeds to play a tune.

"That's amazing" says the landlord, "where did you come across him?".

"Well, it's a bit embarassing really" says the man. " I was walking down the street on the way here when I came across an old lady, laden down with shopping bags and stood on the side of a busyroad waiting to cross over. Seeing that she needed a hand, I stepped in, took the shopping from her, stopped the traffic and helped her across. It turned out that she was a witch and, by way of thanks, she said I could have anything I wanted."

The landlord looked incredulously the man. "But why did you ask for him?" he said, looking at the piano player.

The man replied, "Well, she must have been hard-of-hearing.....she thought I asked for a 12-inch pianist!"

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-09-18T10:48:58Z</dcterms:modified>

The Weekly Challenge - Sunday 28 'til Sat 3...

Ok, here's this week's challenge - open from now, you have until
midnight on Saturday 3 September to leave your answer as a comment on the
board.

This week's prize? Hmmm....how about a CD compilation of alternative
chilled music for kickin' back to and drifting away? That'll do.

As ever, in the event of a tie, there's a points system in place that should cover things. Now onto the question...

Film Celebrity Fight Club!!

In an hour of boredom, Matty got wondering as to who really is the best
living lead man in cinema today...after pondering for a while, he came
up with the solution. Let them settle it out in FCFC - a cross between
Top Trumps, the World Cup & Heat magazine!

16 stars were promptly selected and drawn against each other using a
random number generator to create the below matches (no, really - was
that bored!). Each match was decided on a fight using the following
qualities (out of 5):

LOOKS
ACTING ABILITY
COOLNESS & CREDIBILITY
BLOCKBUSTERS
HOWLERS (0 - minus 5)
QUALITY OF MOST MEMORABLE LINE?
ROMANTIC LIASONS...

The winners went through to the next round until, finally, a champion emerged from the wreckage...

Your mission is to predict the winners in the same way matty has - if
you can do so, and ultimately come up with the same champion....the
prize is yours.

The Draw and Details

Ok, this is easier then it sounds. Let me explain it. Here is Round one:

Match A - Johnny Depp vs Brad Pitt
Match B - Tom Cruise vs Kevin Spacey
Match C - Paul newman vs Hugh Jackman
Match D - Matt Damon vs Michael Douglas
Match E - Keanu Reeves vs Jack Nicholson
Match F - Clint Eastwood vs George Clooney
Match G - Russel Crowe vs Robert De Niro
Match H - Ewan Mcgregor vs Orlando Bloom

Round two (quarter finals) will then be:

Match A winners (Depp/Pitt) vs Match B winners (Cruise/Spacey)
Match C winners (Newman/Jackman) vs Match D winners (Damon/Douglas)
Match E winners (Reeves/Nicholson)vs Match F winners (Eastwood/Clooney)
Match G winners(Crowe/De Niro) vs Match H winners (McGregor/Bloom)

Round 3 (semis) will be:

Winner A/B vs Winner C/D
Winner E/F vs Winner G/H

The Final:

Winner A-D vs Winner E-H

I want to see the results of all the fights in your entry folks - and
if you want to include some humorous summary of the fights and how you
came to your results, that'd be very good too...remember, my conclusion
may be wrong. A decent argument could change my mind...

Good luck!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-08-29T10:28:16Z</dcterms:modified>

The Weekly Quiz - WINNER!

Everyone was miles off at times - but closest of all was Sam P, so she gets the CD.

Radio Matty!

Folks, if I started doing a show for an hour or two every day and
broadcast it online, who'd be interested in listening? Could throw in
tunes and chat....take email requests and debates etc. Let me know.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-07-26T22:16:20Z</dcterms:modified>
